Royal Vopak announces that it has started an expansion project at its Altamira Terminal in Mexico. By March 2008, the current storage capacity will have been increased by nearly 50 percent to 94,300 cbm (62,600 cbm today).

The Vopak Mexico - Altamira Terminal is strengthening its position in the chemical market. The Altamira expansion project signifies that regional customer demand for high quality storage capacity is increasing.

Altamira’s expansion project will add 31,700 cbm capacity in four new tanks to the terminal (currently 21 tanks and 62,600 cbm). The first newbuilding will be dedicated to the storage of carbon black feedstock for one customer, while the remaining capacity will be available to other customers in the chemical industry.

Vopak Mexico as part of the Vopak Latin America division operates three terminals in the country: Altamira, Coatzacoalcos and Veracruz. Main products stored are chemicals and vegoils.
Currently, Vopak’s total storage capacity in Mexico adds up to 197,100 cbm.
